How does a typical day at work look for a DevOps engineer?

To be honest, there is no such thing as a "typical" day - every day is different, and that's one of the things that makes it more interesting.

However, there are some common themes and activities that DevOps engineers find themselves engaged in. Here's a quick overview of what a typical day might look like:

  1. Morning/Evening stand-up meeting with the team to discuss what everyone is working on that day. It is a great opportunity to catch up on any new developments or challenges that need to be addressed.

  2. Checking in on the status of various infrastructure tools and ensuring that everything is on track. It might involve working with other engineers to troubleshoot issues or writing code to automate tasks.

  3. DevOps means improving the process, stability and scalability. This could involve multiple deep work hours every day spent writing new scripts or configuring tools to make the process better and more efficient.

  4. As the day goes on, there will likely be various meetings with other teams to discuss changes that are being made to the system. These meetings help ensure everyone is on the same page and that potential problems are addressed early on.

  5. At the end of the day, It's important to document what was accomplished and what still needs to be done. Other teams in the organization will use this documentation, so it's important to be clear and concise.

A typical day for a DevOps engineer involves coding, problem-solving, and team collaboration. While the days can be challenging, they are also very rewarding. Seeing a project come together and knowing that you contributed to its success is a great feeling.
