What questions should you ask your DevOps interviewer?

I think asking the interviewer questions is a great way to learn more about the company's culture and what they are looking for in a DevOps candidate. I have compiled a list of questions to help you get the most out of your interview and learn more about the company and the role you're interviewing for.

1) What are the biggest challenges that the company is facing right now?

It will give you an insight into the company's current priorities and if your skill set would be a good fit to help solve those problems.

2) What is the company's philosophy on DevOps?

Some companies view DevOps as a way to speed up development time, while others see it as a cultural shift that encourages collaboration between developers and operations teams. This question will help you understand where the company falls in that spectrum.

3) What kind of automation tools does the company use?

This question will help you understand what technology stack the company is using and if your skillset is a good fit.

4) What challenges has the company faced with DevOps in the past?

It will help you understand what obstacles the company has faced when implementing DevOps and how they were overcome. And it will also provide you with a good sense of the company's culture and how they handle adversity.

5) What are the company's plans for the future?

It will give you an insight into where the company is headed and if its plans align with your career goals. It will also provide insight into what role you could play in helping them achieve those goals.

6) How on-call or support work is handled?

It will give you an idea of the company's expectations for DevOps engineers. It will also help you understand your schedule if you were to take on a role with the company.

7) What is the development process like?

Through this, you will get a hold of how developers work within the company. You will also get to know the release cycles and how much time is spent on coding vs. other tasks.

8) What are the production environments like?

It will give you an idea of what goes on behind the scenes regarding how applications are deployed and run in production. It can also provide insight into the company's culture around operations and how they view DevOps engineers.
